Heathermount is a non-maintained specialist school in Ascot owned by Cavendish Education. The school provides an education for children and young people aged between 4-19 years who have a primary diagnosis of Autism. We are well resourced and have excellent facilities set on our 14-acre site. Classes are small (max 8 in secondary) and staff training is comprehensive. We work hard to support our students and parents, and the rewards are tremendous if you are motivated by improving the life chances of young people.

Teaching assistants support our students in their learning by either working with individuals or groups of students. They also contribute to the assessment, planning, recording, monitoring, and reporting of students’ progress.

The post will require the successful applicant to undertake any such duties as may be assigned which are consistent with the nature of the job and the level of responsibility.

Experience of working with students with autism would be an advantage, but not essential. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic applicants who will make a positive contribution to achieving the best outcomes for our students.

The school has a “Good” Ofsted inspection (Feb 2019) and in June 2021 achieved the prestigious Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as being awarded with the Leading Parent Partnership Award and the Wellbeing Award for Schools. We are a forward looking and ambitious school with a passion for making a difference to the lives and education of our young people.

Benefits include:

  • Free parking
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Life Insurance cover @2 x your basic salary
  • Subsidised lunches
  • Paid training and development
  • Performance related bonus
  • Long service awards

We are a forward looking and ambitious school with a passion for making a difference to the lives and education of our young people and our hard working, talented staff.

Please do not hesitate to call the school for an informal chat or come and visit us and meet our inspiring, wonderful young people and our hard working, talented staff. We welcome interest from colleagues from both mainstream and special or alternative provisions.

Building confidence & preparing students for life

We are an Independent sepecial school specialising in a broad and balanced education for children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old with Autistic Spectrum Conditions.  We are a well resourced day school with excellent facilities.  Located within 14 acres of beautiful grounds in Ascot we make good use of our setting to improve students' well-being.  It is a calming environment to help manage anxieties.  Our class sizes are small (max 8 in Secondary).  Students follow a range of pathways, according to their individual needs and take qualifications ranging from ASDAN and Functional Skills through to Level 2 NVQ/BTEC and GCSEs.  Both core and vocational courses are available and students enjoy the opportunity to study business administration, catering and horticulture alongside more traditional subjects.

In summer 2021 we proudly achieved the highly regarded Advanced Autism Accreditation status as well as the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) and Wellbeing Award for Schools (WAS).  Our last Ofsted Report in February 2019 concluded that we are a good school with the potential to become outstanding in the near future and this is very much a focus for the whole staff.

Heathermount School is part of the Cavendish Education Group.
