We aim to help our students overcome social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) in order to manage their behaviour and make considered choices.
We require a passionate and committed Teaching Assistant/Learning Mentor to work with students and staff at Midpoint Centre.
Applicants will be expected to have:
- Experience of working with students with SEMH and particularly challenging behaviour.
- A proven track record of good communication and organisation
- A willingness to attend training
Job Overview:
This role will involve supporting the delivery of a variety of curriculum subjects. You will be able to deliver bespoke interventions by preparing, providing, maintaining, organising and managing the resources required for healthy, safe, secure and exciting activities to be carried out by staff and young people. The teaching assistant role forms a central part of the work of the Centre and the post holder will work closely with teaching staff to support, develop and further extend the work of the Centre and the experiences of our young people. You will need to be prepared to undertake training and access support to ensure that you are able to support the diverse needs of some of our most vulnerable young people.
Duties and responsibilities:
- To work under the direction and guidance of the Assistant Head and within an agreed system of supervision
- To implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the pastoral lead in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources for interventions.
- Supporting with the development of pastoral systems and processes.
- Build strong relationships with parents and carers
