The Sports Centre

Completed in December 2004, at a cost of £7m, the Sennocke Centre comprises the following facilities:

  • 8 court sports hall
  • 25m, 6 lane swimming pool
  • Fitness Suite & weights room
  • 3 glass-backed squash courts
  • Dance and aerobics studio
  • Rock and rope climbing area
  • 3 indoor tennis courts
  • Café & meeting room
  • Floodlit hard court
  • Athletics Track, Astro and Grass pitches with pavilions  

The Role

The Team Leader will report to the Operations Manager   

Purpose of Job 

  • To assist with all aspects of day to day running of the Centre.
  • To ensure an effective and efficient service for both school and external users, thereby enhancing the experience of sport and fitness.
  • To uphold legislation, regulations & policies.
  • To assist with coaching, supervision and act as booking host.
  • To participate in active learning & deputise for the Duty Manager.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of the lifeguard team on all day to day issues. Ensuring adequately competent staffing levels are in place to meet programme requirements.
  • Key holder with responsibility for building opening & closure procedures.
  • Be responsible for and coordinate school, community & boarding recreational programme and assist where required.
  • Work with the school sports team to ensure facilities and equipment are managed and prepared for the programme.
  • Undertake cleaning, housekeeping and general duties.
  • Monitoring and recording of statistical information.
  • Reconcile daily income.
  • Assist with the coordination & delivery of holiday courses.
  • Assist with programme planning, event management & marketing in line with the business plan in a safe and effective manner.

Health and Safety

  • Ensuring the School & Centre’s Emergency, Safety and Security policies are upheld.
  • Report all faults, incidents, accidents and dangerous occurrences.
  • Carry out mandatory checks and inspections as required.
  • Assist with the control of unauthorised access to the Centre.
  • Identifying & Co-ordinating lifeguard training and maintaining records.
  • Updating risk assessments & safe systems.
  • Ensure environmental control is managed.  

Continued Personal Development (CPD) 

Attend regular mandatory training as required for the post.  To commit to personal vocational development as identified, with occasion for commitment beyond the hours of the post. To assist the Manager with the recruitment and on-going training of the leisure team, and where required uphold the standards expected by that team using the schools assessment and disciplinary processes as required.

Working Hours

The Centre operates throughout the year (i.e. not just in term time) the role requires you to work a rotational shift pattern including, evening, weekend & Bank Holiday shifts.  This role is full-time, all year round, 40 hours per week.

The International Baccalaureate
