Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Team Manager of Engineering- HE, at our state of the art facilities at Derby College Group Roundhouse Campus.

The engineering industry in Derby is both world renowned and nationally significant and the ambitions for this department are vast. The successful candidate will need to be relentless in their pursuit of quality, with the vision to shape both the current and future workforce of Derby's High Level engineering and advanced manufacturing sectors. We have big ambitions for what we want to achieve with our students, employers and HEI partners in this vital role and, by continually developing a range of industry led, innovative specialisms, we can ensure Derby maintains its rightful position in these sectors.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to further develop our recent GBP 1.75m investment in a state of the art Industry 4 Mechatronics suite and other new engineering equipment including CNC machines and welding facilities. This is a significant leadership role, and as expected the demands will be high. The successful candidate will require outstanding managerial skills and experience of working in Higher Education. We may consider candidates who are looking for their first opportunity in a management role and are wanting to progress from a current significant coordination/supervisory role, but they must be able to demonstrate this experience and knowledge to support their application.

Please note, the interview process will require candidates to demonstrate their understanding of this role using a series of managerial practical tasks on the day of the interview.
