Technical Support Facilitator- Chemistry

An opportunity has arisen to join the Outstanding Faculty of Maths and Science, which continues to enjoy exceptional student outcomes and a high level of progression in the STEM areas. The faculty was awarded grade 1 in the Ofsted inspection in 2014 and has continued to grow and develop its provision ever since. The faculty delivers a range of A levels, Level 3 BTEC Applied Science, Access to HE courses, International Baccalaureate, and GCSE. You will be joining an existing experienced, supportive team of physics specialists, as part of a forward-looking Physical Sciences team lead by a Curriculum Area Manager.

You will collaborate with two other technicians in Physics and Biology, and jointly support other areas such as Geology and Environmental Science. You will be directly working with teaching staff and have the opportunity to support and demonstrate practical techniques to students where appropriate. You will also work closely with the faculty coordinator, ordering equipment and resources and collaborating on rooming requirements. The Faculty is based in the modern purpose-built Maths and Science Centre.

You will be an effective communicator and team member with the IT skills to support your work, as well as having the technical background for the role as described in the Job Description. We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong desire to work in an educational setting; supporting teaching staff to enable learners to develop the skills required for their chosen progression routes.

The physics technician has also had responsibility for coordinating the faculty laptop trolley logistics and supporting with a range of other tasks within the faculty.
