WORKING PATTERN: 35 Hours per week (8:00am – 3:30 pm) term time only  

SALARY: Grade 3 Points 12-16 £15,823 - £17,169 pro rata (£13,200 - £14,323 actual) 

START DATE: ASAP

You will be located in Didsbury, (often voted as one of the most popular places to live in Manchester) only a short walk from the vibrant shops, bars and restaurants of Didsbury village. You will also have access to excellent transport links to Manchester city centre and surrounding areas.  

You will support teaching and learning within our Science Faculty. The role will include the preparation and retrieval of materials and apparatus when required for demonstrations and practical work, as well as working alongside teachers to assist in practical demonstrations and experiments during lessons in order to ensure excellent learning outcomes for the students. In addition, you will also be responsible for the organisation of the Science preparation room, including the safe storage and disposal of chemicals, the monitoring and management of stock and supplies and the maintenance and cleaning of equipment along with any ad hoc tasks delegated to you by the Science Faculty.   The Technical team also has responsibility across the school for reprographics so you will also be spend some of your time assisting with reprographics work.   

You should:  

• Have experience of working in an educational or other appropriate technical or laboratory environment; 

• Have good subject Knowledge in Biology, Chemistry & Physics; 

• Knowledge and awareness of health and safety regulations in a laboratory setting; 

• Possess excellent communication skills, being able to communicate with colleagues and students;  

• Be able to prioritise workload, multi-task and keep calm under pressure; 

• Have the ability to work as part of a team;

• Be pro-active with the ability to act on your own initiative.
