 About the Department:

· The DT Department is located in its own block

· DT and Food Technology are taught using a rotation system at KS3, spending half a year in each area

· Students of all abilities can access the DT curriculum and make good progress over the 3 academic years

· Projects involve elements of product design, resistant materials, graphic products and textiles.

· Currently the DT Department offers GCSE Product Design at KS4

· Food Studies has two practical room, two teachers and a part time technician

· Students access the Science Department’s garden to grow fruit and vegetables to use within the Department

· At KS3 students are taught to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating

· Weekly lessons are supplemented by 2 extra-curricular Food Clubs

· KS4 students study GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition

· We actively support recycling and sustainability within the classroom
