The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Lower School Science Technician with immediate effect.
The post holder will join a team of 4 Technicians within the Faculty and be responsible to the Head of Key Stage 3 Science and the Head of Science:
Responsibilities:
o Preparation and assembly of apparatus, materials, solutions for practical lessons and demonstrations.
o Putting out and collecting in of lesson materials for Y7 and Y8 classes.
o Preparation of stock reagents.
o Maintenance, cleaning and where possible repair of equipment.
o Maintenance of stocks of stationary, apparatus, consumables and safety equipment for the department.
o Adopting safe working techniques in accordance with the school’s safety policy.
o Photocopying for the department.
o Preparation and maintenance of wall displays around the department.
o Assistance in preparation of laboratories and activities for Open Evenings, Outreach, and extracurricular activities.
o Providing covering for absent technicians when necessary.
o Undertaking any duties within the Science faculty as may be requested by the Heads of Departments.
o Support teachers / pupils in practical activities if necessary.
The holder of this post should:
• Have the ability to work in a methodical and organised fashion.
• Have good communication skills.
• Be able to work as part of a team.
• Some ICT skills would be an advantage.
