Required for September 2017, a Full or   Part-Time (0.6) temporary teacher of:

ART

The School is seeking either a new   entrant to the profession or someone looking to move to broaden the range of   their experience in a strong department. Applicants will be artistically   able, enthusiastic teachers who will be expected   to teach Art throughout the School. A specialism in Fine Art and/or Ceramics   would be advantagous. The pupils are highly motivated, well behaved and   talented, with a desire to develop their artistic skills further. This is an   excellent opportunity for an individual to grow in a highly resourced and   well supported department. Involvement in the wider life of this   outstandingly successful North London boys’ school is desirable. This post is   for one full academic year in the first instance.

Haberdashers' Boys' School is a large independent school located in the village of Elstree, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1690, the all-through school educates around 1,200 boys aged 5-18, all of whom are day pupils.

The School has a selective admissions policy, with prospective students for the senior school expected to pass entrance exams across a range of subjects. The best-performing boys are interviewed to ascertain their suitability for a place at the School. Entrance to the pre-prep and prep departments is also selective, with assessed playgroup sessions and exams used depending on the boy’s age.

Pedagogy and teacher development takes a collaborative approach which is both voluntary and open-minded.  Many teaching staff attend Learning Lunches where their peers will demonstrate new developments or ideas with which they have been experimenting.  In addition, teachers can request specific training which is often run in well attended Twilight Training sessions at the end of a school day.  The School operates an ‘open door’ approach with teachers regularly observing and learning from each other.
