Harrow’s Drama and Theatre Department produces an ambitious and varied annual season of whole-School, House and pupil-led productions. The thriving theatre scene at Harrow has inspired many pupils to go on and work within the theatre industry as actors, writers, producers, designers, directors and technicians.
Harrow School is seeking to appoint a part time Design Assistant, with wardrobe specialism. The Design Assistant will work closely with the Theatre Designer to ensure that the Ryan Theatre Wardrobe is well stocked, organised and maintained. On an individual production basis, the postholder will act as a Wardrobe Supervisor, undertaking measurements, fittings, alterations and repairs, according to design requirements, and working backstage during technical and dress rehearsals, and during performances. The post-holder will also assist with other design-related tasks, such as basic scenic painting.
This role would suit someone with a passion for drama and theatre, and strong practical skills in costume. We are looking for a proactive, skilled practitioner, able to work flexibly across a range of tasks, within a fast-paced environment in which a high level of creative work is aspired to. They may have completed a degree-level course in drama, costume or a related discipline, or have experience as a professional or within an educational environment. They may be a freelance professional seeking additional work. They will be tidy, organised, innovative, with a detailed eye to uphold the Ryan Theatre’s standards and first-class reputation.
