TEACHER OF THEOLOGY – commencing September 2018

MPS/UPS Permanent, Part Time 0.28-0.43 FTE over three days

We wish to appoint a well-qualified Teacher of Theology to join our successful department. All students study theology up to GCSE and the opportunity to explore major world religions is highly prized within our diverse school community. The department offers two popular A level courses in Religious Studies and Philosophy in our sixth form. At GCSE pupils study ‘Belief in Action’ examining religious beliefs relating to sexuality, conflict and cosmology. KS3 students study a wide range of topics ranging from the question of identity in modern Judaism to the development of New Religious Movements and cults. The department organises trips to various centres of worship in London, including the Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and Regent’s Park Mosque. The department has run sixth form masterclasses which include specialist talks, and a Philosophy discussion society. All teachers in the school benefit from outstanding ICT facilities and the support of a well-stocked library and full-time librarian.

Camden is a successful and oversubscribed inner London comprehensive secondary school.  We have been identified five times by government ministers as one of the top 100 schools in the country.  The school has also been described as “outstanding” by Ofsted in all categories.

About The Camden School for Girls

Located in Camden, north-west London, The Camden School for Girls is a single-sex secondary school, offering places to girls aged 11-18. With around 1,000 students, the school has an extremely diverse student intake, reflective of the local community.

First established as a grammar school in 1871, The Camden School for Girls later became a comprehensive. Although the school is girls-only in Years 7-11, the substantial sixth form is co-educational and accepts a large number of its students from other schools in the local area.
