You will be based at Queensmead House School.

Be amazing, be inspired, be you.

Our young people deserve the best possible future and we feel the same about our staff. You deserve to have the career you want, in an environment that allows you to be yourself. As a member of our team, you’ll receive a sector-leading salary, extensive benefits, training, and a clear career pathway ahead of you.

If you want to join the UK’s leading provider of specialist education and care, working passionately to bring the best possible outcomes for young people, you’re in the right place.

Be the Therapist, be the guide.

You’re already a skilled Therapist or Counsellor, but could you support children and young people with highly complex and challenging needs? If so, join the expert Clinical Team in our outstanding homes and schools.

This is a great opportunity to change young lives for the better, as you make a big impact on our children and young people’s wellbeing and development. You’ll work in one of our independent schools, which offer first-rate facilities. Here, you’ll benefit from supervision, a development programme and a strong colleague support network. Join our respected team and help us build brighter futures.

The role

Working with children and young people with a wide range of SEMH needs, you’ll assess their mental health and recommend appropriate interventions. That means working closely with each individual to devise a fully personalised care plan. By building a good rapport, you’ll deliver effective counselling and feedback on progress. Your colleagues will be looking to you to provide high quality reports on all developments, and it’s important you keep them, authorities and external professionals well informed. You’ll also be very happy to provide advice, support and training where needed internally.

There’s no doubt that you’ll be dealing with some challenging behaviour. What’s more, each child’s requirements are constantly evolving. You must therefore be flexible, calm, resilient and patient. In return you will find this to be a highly rewarding role and when you see a child progress, all the hard work will have been worth it.

Be the Therapist you always wanted to be

A qualified professional (or accredited counsellor), you’ll be eligible for membership of BACP (or a similar professional body), and further mental health or therapeutic intervention qualifications would be advantageous. You’re well versed in child development and good at connecting with young people. You’re also highly organised and ready to take the initiative. With these talents plus motivation, you’ll have what it takes to make a difference.

With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence. Our aspirational homes, schools and ethos help us achieve the best possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Be Rewarded

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, Pension Scheme matched up to 5% or a range of flexible pension options to suit personal circumstances(where applicable) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme. Witherslack Group conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Waveney Patel, Regional Director (Clinical) on 07918581509.

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.

About Queensmead House School

The stunning Queensmead House School is on the same site as the former Queensmead School, which has wonderful views of Windsor Castle and offers a truly inspirational environment for our young people. Queensmead House School is a co-educational, independent specialist day school, providing the highest standards of education and care for children and young people, between the ages of 11 and 19 years, with complex educational needs, communication difficulties and challenging behaviours. The school will be one of our largest, with capacity of up to 130 young people, 90 of whom will be in the Secondary provision. We would expect the school to reach optimum capacity by 2024; that’s 130 children and young people’s lives we can make a real difference to across the region!

Like all of our schools, Queensmead House School will benefit from excellent staffing ratios, highly resourced learning environments and endless academic and vocational options. The site has been a school since 1948 and our property team are working to ensure that it offers an inspirational learning environment where our young people can thrive. The school will include a full size sports hall, MUGA, and specialist classrooms for science, food technology, DT and computing. Pupils will be supported in small class sizes (maximum of 8), by well qualified and experienced staff who are able to offer an extensive range of academic, practical, vocational, sport and leisure activities, to support both a young person’s educational achievements and social and communication skills.

About Witherslack Group

We are dedicated to fulfilling the hope of every parent by releasing their child’s full potential.

We focus on each child, giving them stability and support they need. Across all Witherslack Group settings, the model that we implement is our ‘Internal Team Around the Child (ITAC)’ approach. This approach ensures that young people have access to cohesive services and all the relevant practitioners concerned with an individual young person meet regularly. This ensures the services delivered are integrated, prioritised, coherent and achieve their intended outcomes.

We are the leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, communication difficulties (autistic spectrum conditions, Asperger’s Syndrome, speech, language and communication needs), complex learning needs and challenging behaviours.
