Job overview

Team: Therapeutic Services

Please note, this position is a 6 month fixed term contract (maternity cover). The role is part-time and will consist of 14.8 hours per week. You will be based at Bamber Bridge, Lancashire. The expected start date will be 1 March 2022.

You’re already a skilled Therapist or Counsellor, but could you support children and young people with highly complex and challenging needs? If so, join the expert Clinical Team in our outstanding homes and schools.

This is a great opportunity to change young lives for the better, as you make a big impact on our children and young people’s wellbeing and development. You’ll work in one of our independent schools, which offer first-rate facilities. Here, you’ll benefit from supervision, a development programme and a strong colleague support network. Join our respected team and help us build brighter futures.

The role

Working with children and young people with a wide range of SEMH needs, you’ll assess their mental health and recommend appropriate interventions. That means working closely with each individual to devise a fully personalised care plan. By building a good rapport, you’ll deliver effective counselling and feedback on progress. Your colleagues will be looking to you to provide high quality reports on all developments, and it’s important you keep them, authorities and external professionals well informed. You’ll also be very happy to provide advice, support and training where needed internally.

There’s no doubt that you’ll be dealing with some challenging behaviour. What’s more, each child’s requirements are constantly evolving. You must therefore be flexible, calm, resilient and patient. In return you will find this to be a highly rewarding role and when you see a child progress, all the hard work will have been worth it.

Your profile

A qualified professional (or accredited counsellor), you’ll be eligible for membership of BACP (or a similar professional body), and further mental health or therapeutic intervention qualifications would be advantageous. You’re well versed in child development and good at connecting with young people. You’re also highly organised and ready to take the initiative. With these talents plus motivation, you’ll have what it takes to make a difference.

With our high staff-to-child ratio and in-house clinical teams, we’re proud to have won a reputation for excellence. Our aspirational homes, schools and ethos help us achieve the best possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Rewards

Pay Scale: 21-29 with full school holidays (pro-rata'd), however we pay an additional increment to MHPs working full-time in the Children’s Homes as they don't receive term time holidays.

We know you’re going to do great things. You’ll also receive a competitive salary, full school holidays, contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance and Cycle to Work Scheme. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.

For an informal discussion about the role please call Naoimh Todd, Regional Director (Clinical) on 07393464252.

Interview Date: Thursday, 09 December 2021

Closing date: Tuesday, 30 November 2021, 23:59

The Witherslack Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. We are an equal opportunities employer welcoming applications from all sections of the community.
