We are currently seeking to appoint a Third in Charge of Science. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate an infectious passion for teaching and expert subject knowledge to support the Head of Science in leading a team of inspirational teachers and ensuring that the curriculum area provides a range of teaching methods that complement the academy’s strategic objectives, building upon the success already achieved.

The Stanground Academy, part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), is situated in Peterborough, one of the UK’s fastest growing cities, and is transforming the life chances of its pupils by ensuring that every child can succeed, despite the challenges they may face. 

The academy staff are highly motivated and committed to achieving the highest standards. The £23 million state-of-the-art building boasts facilities which are arguably some of the best in the county including two sports halls, numerous outdoor pitches and a dance studio.

Joining the Science department, you can expect to be welcomed as part of a supportive team of Teachers. You will work together to ensure pupils are engaged and enthused in their learning and be innovative in your techniques in doing so. You must also be a great leader with first class communication skills.

The new Stanground Academy opened on 1 April 2012 and is one of the Greenwood Academies Trust’s Group of Academies, replacing the predecessor Stanground College. The Academy has since undergone a £24M building project and now boasts state of the art” buildings providing academic, vocational and sports facilities for pupils and staff.  These include fully-equipped specialist rooms, extensive sports facilities, a dance studio, a theatre and high tech ICT equipment.

The excellent rail and road links to the city ensure that it is easily accessible to the highly desirable towns and beautiful villages in rural areas located close to Peterborough. Peterborough is connected by rail with the nearby towns of Stamford, Grantham, Ely, and Huntingdon along with direct connections to some of the largest cities in the regions such as Cambridge and London.  London is just a mere forty-five minutes away by train!
