We have an exciting opportunity for you to train to teach PE and Geography through the SCITT programme in our dynamic and progressive Academy. The successful candidate will share the aspirational ambitions of our school and work closely with the Director of Sport and PE Team to continue development of our Sports provision. Our school is one of the top state schools in England and was judged OUTSTANDING IN ALL ASPECTS by OFSTED in 2014. We have a rich history of sport and achieve very high standards in all major sports – rugby, rowing, hockey, netball, football, as well as tennis, swimming, cross-country and athletics. Global tours are a strong feature of our sports programme. We are seeking a trainee Teacher who is keen to achieve qualified teacher status whilst gaining experience from day 1 in the classroom. The ideal candidate will have the drive, ability and enthusiasm to learn in the classroom whilst engaging and motivating our able students.  

Duties include:

  • Teaching PE and games at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Teaching Geography at Key Stage 3 
  • Supporting the PE staff to deliver extra-curricular sport
  • Assisting the Director of Sport to co-ordinate the day to day administration of PE

Do you have:

  • Experience of coaching hockey,cricket or rugby?
  • Accomplished communication, planning, time management and organisational skills?
  • Personal commitment to continuous professional development?
  • The ability to manage student behaviour?
  • UK first honours degree, or equivalent, 2:2 or higher?
  • GCSE at grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent?
  • The ability to converse at ease  with parents/students and members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English?
