Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified or experienced person to support the transition of students from KS2 to KS3 and from KS4 to KS5 by working with the Y7 and Y11 teams and mediating with the SENCO and Assistant Vice Principal responsible for transition. 

This person will liaise with primary schools and colleges and lead on supporting students who require a tailored transition to secondary or further education, and into life at MEA Central. 

This is a Grade 4 role working 35 hrs per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting pro rata salary is £19,176. The full time equivalent is £22,369.

Main responsibilities 

Through a balance of co-working with class teachers, curriculum leaders, SENDCo, independent working, and with SLT you will have responsibility:

·        To support leaders at all levels to have a clear understanding, as quickly as possible, of the key indicators for specific cohorts

·        To support excellent communication between all stakeholders

·        To support excellent information gathering to remove all barriers; leading to strong transition arrangements and processes, for all students and especially for the most vulnerable

·        To support the facilitation of an exciting, values driven programme of transition events 

 Duties and Responsibilities

·        Collect information about a child’s needs through observation of the child in different situations, with different staff and through discussion with staff and key people.

·        To contribute information from sessions and observations to assessment, when required by and in discussion with relevant people.

 ·        Gain a good understanding of MEA Central’s curriculum offer, and provide effective advice to students and families.

·        Support with the creation of support plans, risk assessments and other relevant student documents.

·        To provide the necessary resources needed to enable sensory and physical needs intervention and strategies to be implemented; in an easy to use, accessible and organised format.

·        To liaise with relevant people of any feelings that progress is not being made, for example if the aims of intervention are not being met.

·        Monitor the progress of new admissions, ensuring that the curriculum, pastoral and SEND teams are aware of the support needed.

·        To support school leaders in identifying training needs of staff.

·        To work alongside staff to demonstrate and deliver evidenced based programmes of intervention to include specific approaches and strategies.

·        To support staff in understanding how to create an inclusive classroom environment.

·        To plan, deliver and reviewed targeted academic/ therapeutic intervention.

·        To support the staff in implementing specific strategies consistently.

·        To deliver appropriate transition interventions and support programmes.
