Job overview

Framlingham College is a co-educational, independent boarding and day school for pupils aged 3-18. The College embraces pupils with a wide range of interests and abilities and offers a huge number of co-curricular activities and sports that complement our academic curriculum and enrichen our pupils ’ experience. We believe that learning happens within and beyond the classroom; our pupils and staff have high expectations of and for themselves within a supportive and aspirational environment. We believe in instilling curiosity, a spirit of enquiry and a love of learning for learning ’ s sake, in every pupil. Our vision is to equip our young people with the habits and knowledge they need to thrive in their future adult world.

We are seeking a dynamic Transport manager to take responsibility for planning and managing passenger transport operations for Framlingham College and Prep School. The minibus fleet transports pupils and staff to, from and between the schools each day using a network of routes over a wide catchment area. The minibus service is a strategic enabler of the school’ s business plans and the successful candidate will be expected to lead the progression and expansion of the current offering.

The Transport Manager is a customer facing post, requiring a sensitive but firm approach, to ensure the safe and timely travel of pupils and pupil groups from both sites. Advantageous to have CPC (pcv) level 3, however appropriate training will be available to the right candidate. You will have the ability to be able to plan and implement complex logistics requirements, sometimes under pressure, coupled with impeccable customer service skills. A good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel. It is imperative to have ability to learn new systems and processes.

During term time, the maintenance of the daily school runs is the primary task however, many other journeys need to be planned within the College day, thus good organisational and planning skills are essential. Inevitably, there is a need to be proficient at identifying and solving issues, and the Transport Manager should be able to work with minimal supervision, using their own initiative. The ability to communicate plans, updates and changes clearly is an essential attribute.

At the beginning and end of term, the focus shifts to booking and transporting pupils between airports, train stations and the College, while in the holidays there is student invoicing and work in support of route planning and minibus maintenance.

This role is flexible time working 40 hours per week Monday to Saturday with some flexibility required. The salary for the post is £29,193 (£32,253 FTE.) We offer a supportive working environment, a competitive salary as well as free lunch each day the kitchen is operational. Access to other benefits including contributory pension scheme, complimentary gym membership.

Please submit a cover letter outlining your suitability for the role together with an application form. Recruitment packs are available from the HR Department on 01728 723789, email: hr@framlinghamcollege.co.uk

'Where every pupil creates their own story' - Rated 'Excellent' (ISI Inspection 2022)

Framlingham College is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3-18 which offers flexible and full boarding options.

This is a school that is interested in the development of the whole person as well as the examination candidate, and we encourage our pupils to open their minds, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the opportunities available to them. The College has a fine record in stretching the most able pupils, and we know that the bright child will do as well here as they will anywhere else, while our ‘value-added’ rating for those pupils who are not automatically destined to achieve A grades at GCSE and A Level stands alongside the very best in the country. Individual programmes of study provide each pupil with the knowledge and expertise to realise their full academic and personal potential, and the majority of our leavers go on to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. What is certain is that all pupils can be assured of the highest professional quality of provision and individual care in all areas of school life, whatever their strengths or interests.

Framlinghamians leave here with a strong sense of self and a keen awareness of - and sensitivity to - the world around them. The adult world that they will be entering will be a very different one from a generation ago, and we want our pupils to leave here excited – rather than daunted – by the challenges that it will hold.

The College (both Senior and Prep Schools) was rated 'Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2022. To view the Inspection Reports in full as well as an Executive Summary of feedback, visit: https://www.framlinghamcollege.co.uk/inspection.
