Your role will be to inspire students to excel on our BTEC Diploma and Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism programme. The course provides all the skills, discipline and knowledge that people need to build their future in the wide variety of careers in the travel and tourism industry, either directly or after higher education.
First-rate communication skills are absolutely essential, ideally combined with vocational experience in a travel or tourism position. A strong team worker, you should also bring a good knowledge of current IT developments. You should be flexible and have a goal-focused approach.

This role, commencing in August 2018, offers you the opportunity to work in a truly comprehensive sixth form college which continuously strives to work at the cutting edge of teaching and learning. Integration of collaborative, and assessment for, learning is fundamental to this. The post is fixed term for the academic year 2018/19 with the possibility of extension and is 0.9fte over 5 days with the potential for more hours dependant on enrolment.
We are in an exceptional location on the Lancashire border, not far from the Ribble Valley, Lake District and stunning Fylde coast. The vibrant cities of Manchester and Liverpool are both within easy reach.

We are a high-achieving sixth form, giving our students an excellent springboard to success. We educate the whole student, providing all with excellent teaching and opportunities for growth and personal development. We are recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding sixth form. We are relatively small in size, with just over 2000 students and approximately 200 staff. This means that we are a close and caring community.
We serve the whole Fylde Coast area, which includes Poulton-le-Fylde and Lytham St Annes, as well as Blackpool and the surrounding towns and villages. Blackpool Sixth is a friendly, positive and supportive place to work and is rated Grade One: Outstanding by Ofsted (2009). All new staff are offered a thorough induction program; this is supplemented for Newly Qualified Teachers with a comprehensive series of training sessions throughout the academic year. All new staff are allocated a mentor in their probationary year, they are here to offer support and guidance in your new role.It's not just teachers that we develop, both teaching and support staff are involved in an annual programme of staff development, supported by individual performance management reviews and training and development plans.
On top of the internal opportunities staff now also benefit from a wider programme of Continuing Professional Development events which come from being part of the Teaching School Alliance, these include nationally accredited programmes.
