Job overview

The Hamblin Education Trust has operated since September 2016 consisting of two schools, North Cestrian School and Altrincham Grammar School for Boys. We are currently looking to recruit a qualified accountant into a crucial role within the Trust, an organised financially minded individual who will support the HET Finance & Planning Manager and CFOO in recording and delivering timely and accurate management accounts.

The Finance Officer works closely with the Finance & Planning Manager to ensure effective financial control and compliance is maintained.

The post holders’ key responsibilities are in addition to above:

·        Accounting; Operation and administration of financial software; producing monthly reporting pack

·        Banking; administration of online banking facilities, approved required online payments, bank reconciliations

·        Purchases & Services; monitoring day to day purchases, VAT returns monthly

·        Trips & Visits; assisting with use of transactions via Parentmail/Parentpay

·        Payroll Assistance to Finance & Planning Manager as required

·        Reporting; support with annual budgets and uploading to financial software, preparation of month end reports, tracking income, monthly management account reporting, audit preparation

·        Capital; monitoring and tracking income and expenditure

·        Trust – Monthly reconciliation and intercompany transactions.

The successful candidate will have: -

  • Strong system skills with confidence and experience in picking up new accountancy systems
  • Experience in Financial Accounting
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
  • Effective team working skills, including flexibility and adaptability
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work to monthly deadlines
  • Awareness of and compliance with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding and safe working practices, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality and data protection
