Job overview

Central Region Schools Trust is seeking to appoint a Trust Assistant Principal/Director of Mathematics from September 2024.

The pay range for our Assistant Principals is L11-15 but the salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills and experience. A recruitment and retention allowance will be considered for suitable candidates.

We are very excited to offer this opportunity for a leader to develop the mathematics provision across the Trust and play a key role in ensuring that every pupil/student achieves outstanding outcomes.

This role offers an excellent career opportunity for a proven, successful middle leader who is ready to progress to a senior leadership role and continue their professional passion for their chosen academic subject.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a proven and committed subject specialist to work with the Trust’s School Improvement Team and other subject leads to pioneer curriculum collaboration and be the lead professional in the Trust for mathematics.

The successful candidate will initially be based at Gospel Oak School, although will be expected to travel regularly to the other schools in the Trust to meet the requirements of the role. Initially, the Director of mathematics aspect will be a part-time role with the remaining time allocated to whole school responsibilities as an Assistant Principal at Gospel Oak School.

We expect the postholder to lead all aspects of collaboration in curriculum development and teaching of mathematics and support the development of subject expertise in all schools in the Trust through professional networks and sharing of best practice.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Further information is available on the Trust’s website (Vacancies – Central Region Schools Trust). Interviews will take place during the week beginning Monday 22nd April. However, early applications are encouraged as we reserve the right to interview earlier for this post should suitable candidates apply.

Gospel Oak School, formerly the RSA Academy serves the borough of Sandwell, but due to its geographical position students join us from Wolverhampton and Walsall.  In 2017 the school joined the Central RSA Academies Trust and has been working closely and collaboratively across the trust to offer greater opportunities for all.  Over the last 5 years the trust has grown in size and strength, from September 2021 the trust is now an academy approved sponsor in its own right and the RSA will no longer sponsor the trust, although we will continue to work closely with the RSA.  This changing relationship has provided the trust and the school to rebrand ourselves, the trust will now be known as Central Region Schools Trust and the school; Gospel Oak School.

The rebrand for the school has allowed us to reflect on the true heritage of the local community.  The school is based in Gospel Oak and as a community we are very proud of our Black Country heritage, it is for this reason our new branding reflects the colours of the Black Country along with symbolic representation of the area, with the narrowboat which reflects the locality of the Gospel Oak canal basin, the oak tree for when the parish was so large the parishioners prayed under it once a month and the Black Country links to industry within the area.
