Job overview

Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) is looking for a Trust English & Literacy Lead who shares our mission of enriching lives and transforming futures for all our students.

This is a particularly exciting time to join our Trust, and this post represents an increase in FMAT’s School Improvement Team.  This challenging and rewarding role requires an individual who is inspirational, passionate and highly effective. The role will include the development, monitoring and review of provision and standards within the teaching of English/literacy across the Trust. Those who work for our Trust do so because they are values-driven, having our students’ best interests at heart.

This new post will support the Trust in ensuring that all of our students across each setting benefit from the highest quality teaching of English/literacy.  As part of the role, you will ensure that all students, regardless of their background, experience a suitably engaging and stimulating curriculum, within and beyond the classroom setting.  The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of curriculum and be able to demonstrate positive impact within their recent roles.

You will work closely with the Director of Education, other members of the School Improvement Team and academy leaders and teachers to positively impact the lives of the students we serve.  You will have the opportunity to work with a range of other innovative practitioners and contribute to further collaboration and networking within and beyond the Trust.

As part of FMAT, you can help us inspire and enable young people to build successful lives and benefit from outstanding learning. CPD opportunities for those wanting to move into senior leadership and/or more senior Trust roles in the future will be offered, alongside a range of high quality training and leadership opportunities, including a current partnership with Ambition School Leadership, enhancing learning and teaching.

FMAT is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as well as providing evidence of qualifications.

To apply, please complete the online application form.

If you wish to discuss this role further or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Simone Gannon, PA to the CEO, on s.gannon@fmat.co.uk .

Fairfax Multi Academy Trust is a family of schools aiming to develop articulate, resilient and ambitious students, regardless of background, with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to excel in modern Britain.   We want the very best for all our students across the trust because we believe that demographics should not determine destiny.

We have over 3000 students across our four campuses around the city of Birmingham and almost half of those students are eligible for free school meals. We are looking for dedicated professionals who want to take on the challenge of eradicating educational disadvantage: why should a child's life chances be decided by their postcode or background? We believe that every child deserves the same high standard of education to change their lives.

Each of our four campuses across the city of Birmingham has a traditional approach with old-fashioned values where courtesy, manners and respect are central . You can find live vacancies by clicking on our campus pages below:
