Reporting to: Trust Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Location: Bradford (working across Trust schools so a driving licence would be desirable)

Carlton Academy Trust (CAT) is an educational trust based within Bradford local authority. It is a relatively new Trust, being formed in 2019 out of the success of Carlton Bolling which obtained World Class School Status in 2018 and voted ‘Secondary School of the Year’ in the 2019 BBC/Pearson National Teaching Awards. It has undergone rapid growth and currently has two secondary and three primary schools, and around 3500 students and 500 staff. CAT aspires to the highest standards, with the aim of making all its schools ‘Outstanding’ and in recognition of this has recently been approached to become one of the country’s first ‘World Class Trusts’.

The Trust has a comprehensive central team of nearly 20 people covering all key operational areas. This role will enable further specialisation of practice within the finance function, with the successful candidate taking on many of the responsibilities that were formerly undertaken by the CFO or school-based staff – particularly within the Trust’s primary schools..

Although reporting directly to the CFO, the role has a significant degree of autonomy, with the postholder largely responsible for organising their own weekly schedule to successfully manage prevailing demands. This aligns with the philosophies of the Trust, which seeks to promote autonomy and personal leadership.

The Trust is a good place to work with a happy, friendly, open culture which seeks to support and develop. Staff are encouraged to be leaders and pro-actively develop practice, taking innovative approaches where necessary to ensure provision is the very best it can be. Although recognising the importance of each, CAT prefers character and potential to experience and skills, looking to recruit people who with support and training will attain the very highest standards.

Employee welfare is important to us and see them as the Trust’s prime asset. Therefore, we look after staff, offering benefits such as an Employee Assistance programme, generous remuneration packages and structure work so that they can preserve a proper work-life balance.

If you like the sound of how we work and share the ambitions of the Trust, we would very much like to hear from you.

If you would like to apply for this vacancy please complete the Equalities Monitoring Form and the Application Form attached.  Once you have completed the two documents please forward to recruitment@catrust.uk

If you have any questions please contact Anita Riedel, Recruitment Manager at recruitment@catrust.uk or telephone 07807791742

Closing date for applications: Monday 24th January 2022 – 5pm

The School has adopted the principles of Safer Recruitment and will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to do the same.  Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check and subscribe to the DBS update service. Carlton Bolling is an equal opportunities employer.

I am very proud to work alongside established teachers, leaders and staff with a proven track record in delivering high quality learning with excellent outcomes for students. We offer bespoke and regular CPD opportunities that are linked to career stage; this ensures our best teachers are given development opportunities for future leadership roles. Our ITT, NQT and Teach First development programmes are robust, fit for purpose and lead to a significant number of trainees securing permanent jobs with us. We have recently partnered with Bradford College to facilitate our own Carlton Bolling Route into teacher training.

Fostering close links with families and the community are embedded in our ethos as we value their engagement and support. Our sports academy concept has successfully established the boxing and cricket academies, both are open to staff, students and the BD3 community.

We are proud to be the founding school in the Carlton Academy Trust and look forward to working with other schools on their journey to excellence. These are exciting times at Carlton Bolling and we sincerely hope you will decide to join us on our journey.
