Reporting to:     Chief Executive Officer and Chair of the Board

Hours:     16 hours per week, all year round

Grade:     £38,890-£42,821 per annum (full time equivalent)

            £16,817.29-£18,517.18 per annum (actual salary)

Contract:      Permanent

Location:              St Katherine’s House, Derby, temporarily remote.  The post holder is expected to travel to meetings across the Trust.

The St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust has a fantastic opportunity for an exceptional Governance Manager to join our highly ambitious Central Team.  This will role be part of a job share with our existing Trust Governance Manager where you will both work collaboratively to ensure effective and efficient governance across the Trust. Part of the Executive Team, you will be based at our Head Office in Derby, however the post will require travel between the Academies within the CMAT so it is an essential requirement that you have a full and valid UK driving license and access to your own transport.  During the COVID-19 pandemic the role will be temporarily remote.

About the role

This is a pivotal role within the Trust, collaborating with senior colleagues on the Trust Board and in the Executive Team on the Trust’s three-year strategic planning, particularly ensuring legal and regulatory implications are adhered to, and that good governance remains at the heart of decisions made and subsequent action taken supported by policies to deliver requirements over the medium to long term.

In this challenging and rewarding role, you will jointly lead a team of Clerks across the Trust, to deliver an effective and efficient governance service to the Trust.  You, and the existing Trust Governance Manager will be the first point of contact for the Trust Board and Committees.  You will also be responsible for liaising with the Trust’s Data Protection Officer ensuring the Trust’s legal and regulatory compliance. 

About you

You will be highly organised, with excellent communication and time management skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong work relationships with a range of stakeholders externally and internally.  You will have strong governance experience, and a solid understanding of regulatory frameworks for the education sector, including charity law, data protection, governance and complaints.
