Job overview

Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) is looking for a Trust Pastoral Lead who shares our mission of enriching lives and transforming futures for all our students.

This is a particularly exciting time to join our Trust, and this post represents an increase in FMAT’s School Improvement Team.  This challenging and rewarding role requires an individual who is passionate about improving the quality of pastoral care for young people regardless of their background. The ideal candidate will have pastoral leadership experience with an understanding of safeguarding policy and practice within the education sector; they will also be able to demonstrate positive impact within their recent roles. Those who work for our Trust do so because they are values-driven, having our students’ best interests at heart.

This new post will support the Trust in ensuring that all of our students across each setting will be safe, supported and have a positive experience throughout their time at FMAT. As part of the role, you will ensure that all students, regardless of their background, attend school regularly and engage in a way that enables them to positively experience the full range of educational and extra-curricular opportunities available to them. You will provide leadership and advice on all matters related to the pastoral welfare of our students.

You will work for the Director of Education and operate in collaboration with the Heads of Academy and other senior leaders to positively impact the lives of the students we serve.

FMAT is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) as well as providing evidence of qualifications.

To apply, please complete the online application form.

Start date: 19 April 2021 or earlier by negotiation.

Fairfax Multi Academy Trust is a family of schools aiming to develop articulate, resilient and ambitious students, regardless of background, with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to excel in modern Britain.   We want the very best for all our students across the trust because we believe that demographics should not determine destiny.

We have over 3000 students across our four campuses around the city of Birmingham and almost half of those students are eligible for free school meals. We are looking for dedicated professionals who want to take on the challenge of eradicating educational disadvantage: why should a child's life chances be decided by their postcode or background? We believe that every child deserves the same high standard of education to change their lives.

Each of our four campuses across the city of Birmingham has a traditional approach with old-fashioned values where courtesy, manners and respect are central . You can find live vacancies by clicking on our campus pages below:
