Job overview

Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust seeks applicants with a passion for best value and experience of a wide range of services and commodities procurement for this new role.

CMAT is a values-led and high performing multi academy trust operating in Cambridgeshire and the immediate vicinity. We are committed to high quality professional development and career opportunities for all staff.   In an increasingly challenging educational landscape, we need to ensure we retain and develop our teams. Our aim is to make sure that all employees have an excellent experience working for CMAT as this will only enhance our prospects of recruiting the very best going forward.

This is an opportunity to join a successful finance team working across the trust to further improve our processes to ensure best value for public money.  The successful candidate will be inspired by the opportunity to make a difference in education; they will be able to make connections with all types of staff; they will have a focus on the strategic aims of the trust, be aligned with our values and able to show a track record of impact. They will be willing and keen to do things differently.

The Person We Are Looking For

You will have experience or awareness of the procurement challenges that face multi academy trusts or other similar charities. This may not be necessarily gained through an educational background. What will be important is that you can apply focus in an educational context.

You will be an expert negotiator, able to manage complex procurement projects effectively and efficiently.   Imminent projects that await your involvement are to:

- support the build and fit out of new schools - Northstowe Sixth form, Weldon Village Academy (Corby) & Darwin Green Secondary (Cambridge).

- Re-tender previous contracts in Catering, Cleaning, Printing, Software Licencing, IT hardware, Classroom AV and annual building projects (circa £1.5 million)

You will be able to quickly build up credibility and excellent working relationships within the finance and directorate teams, identifying quick wins and long-term change projects that will improve the way we achieve value and improve service.

If this sounds like the kind of challenges that keep you motivated, then it will be great to receive your application. Our CEO Director of Finance would be delighted to arrange a conversation with you to share what makes CMAT a special place to work.

The Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS disclosure.
