Job overview

This is an exciting time for the Anne Frank Trust UK.  With a new management team and forward strategy, we are enhancing our highly regarded education programmes, and launching innovative pilot projects around empowerment, creativity and voice. We are seeking two new trustees with education expertise to help guide, oversee and support these ambitious developments.

Founded in 1991, the Anne Frank Trust UK is an education charity that empowers young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to challenge all forms of prejudice and discrimination.  In the last year, we have delivered our programmes in 98 secondary schools, 54 primary schools and 12 prisons, as well as running 6 public exhibitions and reaching a total audience of over 70,000 people. Our focal educational resource is a mobile exhibition about Anne Frank, the Holocaust and modern-day prejudice. We train young people as peer guides to lead tours of the exhibition for fellow pupils and parents in their schools. Our accompanying workshops cover topics such as sexism, Islamaphobia, homophobia, online hatred, extremism and bullying. Through further training, young people become Anne Frank Ambassadors, choosing an area of discrimination important to them and campaigning about it in their local communities and online.

We have robust research evidence of our impact on young people's attitudes towards other social groups. Our turnover of around £1.5 million is supported by a range of philanthropic and Government funding. Our head office of 15 staff is in Kentish Town, and our education staff live and work in Scotland and 6 regions of England.

Our friendly, committed, hard-working board of 10 trustees is chaired by business leader Daniel Mendoza. We are currently recruiting two new trustees with education expertise  replacing trustees who have come to the end of their terms

Meetings take place in London but we welcome applicants from all over the country. Expenses will be paid to attend meetings or alternatively  technology can be utilised
