An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and creative Tutor, to join our Supported Internship programme. The role is on a full time (37.5 hours per week) basis in Birmingham, we deliver in three location: Birmingham City Centre (B4), Northfield (B31) & Chelmsley Wood (B37). This is an innovative one year-long provision which incorporates work placements and classroom-based activities to develop employability skills. This enables our learners to prepare for adulthood and gain paid employment by the end of the year. They also learn functional skills in English and Maths to support them in the world of work.

You will have the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team as well as help young people with a learning disability, learning difficulty and / or autism access the world of work.

Are you looking for an opportunity to deliver fun and engaging lessons by thinking outside of the box? Great because we need you! You will have at least one full day of planning and admin time per week to support you in your role.

As a tutor you will focus on the delivery of the educational element of the Supported Internship programme. You will work closely with other colleagues including; skills coaches, employer engagement officers, the programme co-ordinators and welfare officers who work collaboratively to form a team around the learners.

Do you have the key skills and requirements for the tutor role?

Essential

  • Passion for supporting the progress of those with learning disabilities and / or learning difficulties?
  • Experience of supporting and / or mentoring others?
  • Experience of working with small groups?
  • A-C / 9-4 English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)?
  • Good time management and planning skills?

Desirable

  • Experience of working with diverse groups?
  • Qualifications in education or teaching (DTLLS, PGCE, CertEd)?
  • Knowledge and experience of delivering and assessing functional skills in English and Maths up to Level 2?
  • Experience and knowledge of safeguarding?
  • Classroom management skills and strategies?
