Job overview

Tutor, HE programme, BA (Hons) Childhood Studies Top Up (Canterbury Christ Church accredited)

The Learning Centre Bexley is Bexley Council’s main provider of Adult Education, providing guidance and support to students with over 8,000 students enrolled and studying, across sites in the community.  The College offers over 1000 part-time courses to students across the borough of Bexley and we are constantly reviewing and expanding our programmes.

The programme is designed to provide an opportunity for graduates of the Foundation Degree and those who work in child-related areas to undertake further study in order to complete the requirements for the award of a BA (Hons) in accordance with the Foundation Degree Prospectus issued by the DfES (2000).

The majority of the students will be progressing from the Foundation Degree 2 year programmes at the College.  Students from other institutions that have passed and completed a related foundation degree, may be accepted, subject to interview. Entry requirements for students – 10 hours per week employment or voluntary work in a child or young people's setting. Entry is subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

This exciting area of study considers the influences that shape children’s development and learning, their personalities, and the critical periods that will shape their journeys to adulthood. The course has been designed for those working with children and young people aged 0-19 years in settings such as schools, nurseries, childcare, foster care, child minders, youth groups, cadets, or library services.

Students use Canterbury University Blackboard VLE and resources.

Approximate cohort of 18 -20 learners.

Start Thursday 14 September 2017, 5-8pm, 36 week programme.
