British International School Hanoi is looking to appoint a University Guidance Counsellor, to join our talented and dedicated team of educators from August 2023.

The role

At BIS we recognise that university entrance is a fundamental priority for our parent and student community. We therefore continue to add quality resources and focus to this area.

We have an impressive track record of enabling students to access higher education all over the world in some of the finest institutions globally. Around 60% of our graduates attend colleges and universities in North America, with 30% going to the UK and Europe, and the remaining in Australia and Asia, most notably Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea.

Our University Guidance Counsellor works closely with students and families to help them discover and articulate their best-fit pathway and to match this with opportunities that exist in tertiary education. The Students are guided step by step with letters of recommendation, personal statements, and applications, and are supported by a strong team-approach among staff.

The University Guidance Counsellor is also assisted by a full-time University Administration Manager, who is also our Korean Liaison.

We are looking for an energetic and strategic professional who can deliver outstanding personalised guidance counselling alongside driving the UGC program forwards in all areas, including careers curriculum and parental engagement, leading to increased first-choice offers. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator, highly analytical, and able to build and maintain enduring networks within the universities and careers community.

About you

The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader and exceptional classroom practitioner, with a track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning and providing effective department management. They will be someone who engenders trust and motivation in those they lead, who places students at the centre of their practice, and is passionate about the power of lifelong learning. We are looking for someone to join our committed, hard-working team of educators who is caring, open-minded and globally conscious.

The appointee will possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification, and teaching experience and be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Vietnam, including a degree, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
