Instructor in Charge of our TLC – our SEMH School within a School

Unqualified point 6 £30,172 with a payment of £3500 for additional responsibilities

Total salary of £33,672

This role will start on 24th August 2023

Beaumont Leys School is a highly successful 11-16 school consistently rated as Good by Ofsted, most recently in March 2020.

The Total Learning Centre (TLC) is a provision to cater for the needs of students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. It is situated in a building within the school that delivers a trauma informed curriculum. Therapeutic repair is at the heart of our approach so students are enabled to understand and regulate their emotions. Our aim is to develop students’ resilience and learning capacity so they can get back to a path of progress towards adulthood.

This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for an Unqualified Teacher to help to develop the TLC to be an outstanding provision and a beacon of inclusion across the city and beyond.

The successful candidate will have skill and experience in working with students with an SEMH background and will work within the school’s SEMH building, providing outreach into school also.

We are very proud of the progress our students make, and the destinations that our students go on to; many of our students have challenging backgrounds and low prior attainment on intake and so we are the beacon of hope for their futures. We believe that a high quality education leads not only to transformative exam results for students, but also in great character development. We want students to feel that they belong in our school and develop their sense of self-worth alongside an understanding of the positive impact they can have on those around them.

Together We Achieve Success is our motto and the driving force for our school. Our students thrive because our staff are dedicated to students’ success; to building positive relationships; and to collaborating and working as a team within a supportive environment. We are a school with a heart and soul, and we believe our job is to give our students the best possible chances in life, creating some fantastic lifelong memories along the way.

We are committed to keeping children and young people safe from harm and abuse and to promoting their welfare, and we expect that everyone who comes to work for us will share the same commitment.

All roles within the school are covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975, and are subject to an enhanced DBS check.
