The governing body of Grove School is seeking to appoint unqualified teachers. This is a fixed term contract. The role would involve planning, preparing, teaching and assessing reading and phonics from reception to year 6. We are keen to appoint someone who will enthuse children about reading and develop reading skills by teaching alongside teachers, teaching reading to groups of pupils and leading keep up to catch up programmes in reading and phonics.  Our phonics scheme is Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised.

Grove School is a mainstream, mixed, community primary school for pupils aged three to eleven. Located in Handsworth, Birmingham, it accommodates approximately 678 students.

Grove School was founded in 1903. The school is split on site, with its early years students and middle school in a Victorian building and Years 5 and 6 in a 1960s open-plan building.

Staff are committed to ensuring all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) achieve their very best . This commitment and determination ensure that all pupils achieve their best from very different starting points. Pupils settle to learning very well, including the youngest children in the early years.

Pupils behave sensibly at all times of the day. As pupils say, there are reminders everywhere. They listen carefully to their teachers and follow the well established school rules consistently Pupils relish learning new things. They can focus well during lessons because they are not disrupted from doing so by others.
