UPPER ELEMENTARY TEACHER
We are seeking an innovative and collaborative elementary teacher who is committed to preparing our students for the future by cultivating skills and attitudes that enable lifelong learning and caring for the community. Available teaching positions could be for Grades 4, 5 or 6, depending on vacancies and transfers.

Duties:
● Provide instruction and guidance to a homeroom of students through all subject areas
● Collaborate with the grade-level team to develop common lessons and units
● Work with all staff in promoting lifelong learning to all students in the school
● Participate in student, school and community extra-curricular activities
Professional Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Elementary Education.
At a minimum, IB “Making the PYP Happen” is required before joining TIS, and PYP experience is a strong consideration for hiring.
Having experience in the PYP Exhibition is preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with inquiry-based learning is a prerequisite and experience with STEAM learning is a definite asset.
Knowledge of Acadience benchmarking, NWEA MAP reports, and PowerSchool are highly desirable.
Overseas teaching experience is a definite asset. Applicants must possess a Canadian provincial (Alberta) teaching certification or comparable qualifications in order to apply for a teaching position at TIS. All new staff are required to be certified in first aid before beginning the school year.
All new staff are required to complete PYP level 1 certification before beginning the school year.
Child Safeguarding:
TIS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful candidate will be required to:
- fulfill their role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all students in the school
- attend regular professional development child protection and safeguarding programs and sign a Code of Conduct
- report to the Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead any concerns they have for the welfare of a student.
