Upper Primary English Teacher

Our well-established bilingual school is looking for a dedicated and passionate teacher to join the team here at SUIS – Hongqiao Campus.

The School:

SUIS Hongqiao is a member of the largest educational not-for-profit organization (Xiehe) in Shanghai. Our campus was established in 2003 as the first SUIS primary campus and over the years has built a strong reputation for offering quality education to the local community. The philosophy of the SUIS group is ‘Where East Meets West’ and this is at the forefront of our approach here at Hongqiao. We have created a personalized bilingual education for our students which is underpinned by a strong values-driven environment.

The Location:

Shanghai United International School (SUIS) Hongqiao Campus

Address: 999 Hongquan Road, Minhang District, Shanghai

The Curriculum:

Our section of the primary school (ages 6-11) is based on the SUIS Pioneer Curriculum which has been in place at Hongqiao campus for thirteen years. The Pioneer Curriculum integrates the compulsory local curriculum with English language and a Western thematic approach. All of our subjects (with the exception of Chinese) are co-taught, so our teachers work and collaborate in a true ‘East meets West’ environment. We are proud to have had excellent, globally-minded bilingual students graduate from our school and achieve their goals of attending a range of top middle schools.

About Shanghai United International School - Hongqiao Campus

Shanghai is at the centre of the burgeoning developments within Asia. A city of 20m+ which encompasses everything from glittering glass and marble skyscrapers to peasants' shanty-towns. Chinese fruit and vegetable markets stand side-by-side with designer emporiums. Shanghai is the new Hong Kong and it is here that the tectonic plates of East and West, of capitalism and communism, meet. Shanghai affords foreign residents a standard of living which is tempting. Families are safe in a society which is law-abiding and non-confrontational. A few years in Shanghai will change your life....

8000 new foreign workers come to Shanghai every year, and this ensures that international schools enjoy a secure future. SUIS is a Chinese school, enjoying a status which is markedly different to foreign 'national' schools (they are not able to educate Chinese nationals). We do not simply cater for the needs of ex-pats, but serve the full international community. Classrooms are modern and well-equipped. Primary colleagues enjoy a team-teaching approach (with two teachers per classroom). SUIS is presently an IB PYP candidate school at primary level and the secondary campus follows the National Curriculum of England and Wales up to IGCSE.
