WE ARE SEEKING AN EXCELLENT UPPER PRIMARY PHASE LEADER FOR AUGUST 2024.
Are you the right person to join us in our IB World School here in Budapest and help us continue our journey towards excellence as we work towards becoming the first IB continuum school in Hungary? After successful MYP and DP Authorisation processes we are currently in the candidacy phase for the Primary Years Program (PYP) with a timeline which aims to achieve authorisation within the 2024/25 Academic year.
Budapest British International School (BBIS) is seeking an exceptional, innovative educator to join our community. As the Phase Leader for the upper primary level, you will play a pivotal role in the academic and holistic development of students, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting teachers in delivering high-quality education. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader with a passion for education and a proven track record in educational coordination or leadership roles.
This Post of Teaching and Learning Responsibility is linked to the position of Class Teacher. All tasks and responsibilities as mentioned in the job description for class teachers and the person specification for the position of Class Teacher are carried out by the staff member who takes up this Post of Teaching and Learning Responsibility. The role is remunerated with a monthly allowance to reflect the additional work expected of the post holder. Time remission will be offered.
Successful candidates should:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher with a recognised teaching qualification
- Have a minimum of two years of recent and relevant experience in a comparable school environment.
- Have knowledge and experience teaching the IB PYP, the IPC, or other Inquiry Based curriculum.
- Demonstrate compatibility with the IB philosophy, coupled with the flexibility and commitment needed to meet the demands of an innovative and expanding school.
- Have proven ability to plan and deliver innovative inquiry-based lessons that engage students and address their diverse learning needs.
- Demonstrated ability to use digital tools and resources effectively to enhance learning.

Formed 7 years ago, BBIS is located in Buda, the leafy side of Budapest. Our current roll of 420 students from 3-18 is expanding to a maximum of 480 representing many different nationalities.
