Job overview
Teacher with a degree in Biology, Science, or similar (CAPES, Agrégation or Masters degree) or Professeur des Écoles (CRPE or Masters degree) from the French Ministry of Education and at least 3 years of experience with, in addition the following skills: French (fluent) spoken and written, familiarity with the French Programs (6th grade and 7th grade), and the ability to aide in the implementation of the French Curriculum.
Dedicated and student focused teaching Science at the Middle/ High School level. Teacher is committed to providing an interactive learning environment. This person will collaborate with all members of the school community to meet the needs of students and to promote and live by the school’s mission and philosophy.
Specifics:
Tasks
o Teaching a French curriculum with French as a native language in Upper school.
o Follow lesson plans to teach Biology in accordance with the French curriculum mandated by the French Ministry of National Education.
o Conduct classroom activities with students based on differentiated learning needs to ensure all students are learning at full potential.
o Participate in ongoing staff training sessions.
Educational vision
o Establish coursework with an interdisciplinary approach.
o Be able to implement differentiation in the class with the support of – but not dependent on – technology.
o Understanding and prepared to further develop one’s skills in all aspects of Diversity Equity and Inclusion in line with the school’s mission.
o Be cognizant of a teaching and learning environment that fosters equity at all levels.
Student follow up
o Individual support, homework help, French tutoring.
o Helping students with specific needs.
o Communication with parents, school psychologist.
o Organize parent-teachers conferences to maximize student learning opportunities.
Minimum Educational Requirement & Field/Major (if any): Bachelor’s Degree or its foreign equivalent, Master’s degree preferred.
