Job description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Mathematics Teacher to join our secondary school team in August 2024. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of young people. The role of teachers is to guide student learning through varied, collaborative, and holistic approaches focused on formative and constructivist learning processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Have an ability to develop and enhance the curriculum. 
  • Adapt and integrate global perspectives and diverse teaching methods to cater to the needs of our multicultural student body.
  • Plan and deliver effective math lessons that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize technology and other teaching resources to enhance the learning experience.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents regarding academic performance.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for learning and respect for diversity.
  • Manage student behavior effectively and consistently.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in workshops or conferences to enhance teaching skills.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress and academic expectations.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to education.
  • Participate in or supervise extracurricular activities related to mathematics or other areas of interest.
  • Contribute to the overall school community through involvement in committees or events.
  • Adhere to professional ethics and standards, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning and personal and professional growth.


Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in the field of Mathematics or a closely related field (Engineering/Economics)
  • A recognized teaching qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with the students, parents and staff forming positive relationships;
  • Capacity and experience in developing and assisting in writing (and ensuring its maintenance) of Schemes of Work,
  • Ability to work independently as well as being a team player,
  • Being able to design and maintain intervention sessions to support underachieving students,
  • Proficiency in English
  • Experience with IB Diploma Math AA or AI is an asset
