Variable Hours Lecturer – Computing & ICT

Your Industry Experience. Their Future.

Technology is constantly changing the way we live and work. Your experience can help students understand that world, discover what they are capable of and see where a career in Computing and IT could take them.

Stanmore College is looking for professionals with experience in Computing and ICT who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and inspiring the next generation. Bring your industry expertise into the classroom, turn technical knowledge into engaging learning and help students develop the skills and confidence to succeed in a fast-moving digital world.

Join Us at an Exciting Time

Stanmore College is undergoing a £60 million redevelopment, creating a modern, sustainable campus with new teaching spaces and facilities for our students. As our Digital provision continues to develop, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future of vocational education.

Your professional insight can make learning more relevant and meaningful. By sharing real-world experience and current industry practices, you'll help students understand how their skills are used beyond the classroom, explore career opportunities and prepare for their next steps into employment or further study.

The Role

You'll deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment across Computing and ICT programmes, helping students develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to progress in the digital sector.

The role will involve:

  • Drawing on your professional experience to make Computing and ICT learning practical, relevant and engaging.

  • Planning and delivering lessons, projects and assignments that reflect current technology and industry practice.

  • Helping students develop their technical skills, problem-solving abilities and confidence.

  • Assessing students' work, providing constructive feedback and supporting their progress and achievement.

  • Keeping your subject knowledge up to date and contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement.

Why This Role Matters

For students, understanding how technology works in the real world can open up a whole range of possibilities. Your experience can help them see beyond the course, discover their strengths and understand the opportunities available in the digital sector.

This is a flexible opportunity to share your professional expertise while continuing your work in the industry or pursuing other commitments. Teaching takes place during the day, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and on Saturdays, depending on curriculum needs.

About You

You'll have relevant professional experience and a strong understanding of Computing and ICT. Just as importantly, you'll enjoy sharing your knowledge, engaging young people and helping them develop the skills needed to succeed.

Whether you already have teaching experience or are considering a move into education, you'll bring enthusiasm for your subject, a supportive approach and a genuine commitment to learner progress. A teaching qualification is welcome, but if you don't already hold one, we'll support you to work towards it.
