The Governors of St Benedict’s Catholic College are seeking to appoint an exceptional, inspirational and innovative Vice Principal, following the promotion of our current postholder to headship. 

Ofsted inspected the college in November 2013 judging it to be good in all areas with some outstanding features. The section 48 inspection in April 2015 judged the college to be good overall, and outstanding in two categories. 

The post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and ambitious leader with a commitment to raising standards to support the Principal moving the College forward to OUTSTANDING status.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record of leading, teaching and learning and raising standards and must be a practising Catholic.

The Vice Principal will have responsibility for the strategic direction and leadership of a team and will lead in a range of areas, including teaching and learning, behaviour and achievement, and performance management.

St Benedict’s Catholic College is a secondary school located in the ancient town of Colchester, Essex. Originally founded in 1963 as a secondary modern, St Benedict’s exists today as a co-educational voluntary-aided school.

It is the only Catholic secondary school in Colchester. With 900 students aged 11-16, St Benedict’s is a smaller than average secondary school.
