Job overview

NUAST is seeking an exceptional Vice Principal (Deputy Head) for our inspirational 11-19 academy. Students benefit from a specialist STEM teaching offer through a unique collaboration with the University of Nottingham and industry partners. With an excellent track record in a pastoral and teaching and learning role you will be responsible for ensuring an inclusive education for all and the delivery of outstanding teaching.

Who we are looking for

NUAST are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual who will report to the Principal Robert White.

Collaboration and communication are critical to the role as you will be working closely with SLT members, Assistant Principals and all teaching and support staff, as well as liaising with parents and outside agencies.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the impact of their leadership in their current role.  Our aim is to move beyond ‘Good’ and develop ‘Outstanding’ provision for our students and your role will play a considerable part in this.

We are specifically seeking candidates with a track record in securing the highest standards of pastoral education and teaching and learning in a school setting. You will have the ability to play a leading role in the school improvement planning process and to identify key areas of strength and weakness in the academy. You will be attracted by NUAST’s positive ethos, in which every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

You will enjoy a high profile in the life of the school through being a visible leader around the site, overseeing the operation of duty teams and by attending extra-curricular events. You will be expected to understand the importance of accountability and to support the governing body and staff in meeting their responsibilities to account for the performance of the academy.

We respect and value our community at NUAST. As such, all our staff are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion and enhancing opportunities for every student.

To be selected you must be resolute and determined to succeed and demonstrate a moral compass to improve outcomes for young people.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to developing the strategic direction of the academy, alongside the Principal. We are looking for someone who has a genuine commitment to drive both student teaching and learning and who understands the impact that this can have on students and their future lives.

The successful candidate for this post will have strong academic credentials and will already have a proven track record of embedding successful pastoral systems and delivering outstanding teaching and learning.

We also welcome applications from highly experienced and aspirant Assistant Principals and Assistant Heads. They will share our vision to motivate our students to find challenge and excitement within a specialist STEM curriculum within a caring and supportive culture.

The post will preferably commence on 19 April 2022, or earlier by arrangement.

Closing date: Monday 22nd November 2021

Please apply through our Peridot Partners website and contact the advising consultants to discuss this role in more detail.

NUAST and the Nova Education Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
