Job overview

We are seeking a passionate, inspirational and talented Vice Principal to lead Inclusion and Safeguarding, working closely with our Principal and other key leaders in the school. First and foremost, we are seeking the right person, and so there can be some adaptation of some of the responsibilities.

You will be an ambitious, inspirational teacher and leader who has the drive and enthusiasm to live and breathe our school and Trust vision to achieve excellence. You will be able to motivate and enthuse others and promote our school values at all times.

We are on a mission to accelerate to good while maintaining a genuine commitment to inclusion. We pride ourselves on knowing our students well, caring for and supporting them, whilst upholding our high expectations and challenging all students to achieve their best. We are frequently complimented on the warm, welcoming culture of our school, which is shared across all our staff team.

We are looking for the right candidate who will possess the key knowledge, attributes and skills to lead by example, and a high calibre colleague who will motivate and enthuse all staff and students at Eckington School. We seek to realise the potential of all students regardless of their prior attainment, so they invest in their own learning, raise their aspirations and live into their potential.

Our school is at an exciting stage in its improvement journey.  We strive for excellence in all we do. We are making considerable strides forward in all areas including in the breadth and depth of our curriculum, in the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and in the behaviour and attitudes of our students.

All our improvement work is underpinned by improving provision, aspirations and outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students and those with SEND.

Our work on inclusion, incorporating SEND and Behaviour & Attitudes, and safeguarding are built across several staff teams and leaders. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the work of these teams strategically and cohesively builds towards our school and Trust vision.

This role will suit you if you can uphold our high standards and expectations while concurrently being a compassionate leader, supporting and working with these teams in our pursuit of excellence.

Our Senior Leadership Team is close-knit and we work very collaboratively, weaving our areas of responsibility together. We are well supported by a wider extended leadership team of senior middle leaders who each have a whole-school leadership role, and a talented team of support staff middle leaders.

If you feel you would have the energy and passion to be a part of our team and could make a valuable leadership contribution to our ambitions, we would love to hear from you.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

• are fully committed to the vision and principles of Eckington School and LEAP MAT Trust

• have an exceptional ability to develop excellent relationships with students, staff, parents and our wider community

• are committed to inclusion and the wider personal development of our students so that they gain confidence to make the most of every opportunity and feel safe to be themselves

• are an excellent yet modest leader and classroom practitioner, with high expectations of all learners and professionals within the team

• have a relentless determination about high standards and driving performance to the highest level in your classroom and across the school while maintaining kindness and respect

• are a team player and can work closely with other professionals to develop and implement effective strategies and processes of whole school improvement.

In return we offer:

• An excellent programme of professional learning and support.

• An opportunity to shape strategy within an already successful team.

• Mentoring and support from an experienced team.

• A supportive Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and Local Governing Body.

• The opportunity to work with a brilliant and characterful student body.

We welcome contact to discuss this post, as well as visits to our school to meet our Principal, Nick Melson and tour the school. If you cannot visit, we can organise a Teams meeting with the Principal. In order to do so, please contact Nick’s PA: principalpa@eck.leap-mat.org.uk

Closing date: Application are to be received no later than 9.00am on Wednesday 2 February

Completed applications should be returned either by post to: Caroline Fullelove, HR at Brinsworth Academy, Brinsworth Road, Brinsworth, Rotherham S60 5EJ or email to recruitment@leap-mat.org.uk.

The Learner Engagement and Achievement Partnership is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
