Job overview

Vice Principal – Inclusive Practice - St James Academy - Dudley Academies Trust

Leadership Range (L20 to L24)

We are seeking to appoint Vice Principal for Inclusive Practice to enhance the senior leadership team at St James Academy and to contribute to the Trust’s development of its alternative provision.

You will be a dynamic leader who shares our passion for creating a truly aspirant culture that encourages all of our learners to Dream Big.

This role will focus on working with a dynamic team of leaders to create the best provision possible for the more vulnerable learners at St James Academy and a blueprint for the Trust as a whole. The successful applicant will be able to develop the best practice in teaching and learning for vulnerable learners in the mainstream setting as well as ensuring that they have wrap around pastoral support to enable them to flourish. There will also be the opportunity to develop the first phase of our alternative provision at both academy and Trust level. This requires the ability to think strategically and to successfully turn plans into effective operational practice.

The Trust is now in its fourth fully operational year and the second phase of its strategic plan will launch in September 2022.  Having established a proven track record for improving schools at pace, there is now an exciting opportunity for further growth and to welcome more primary and secondary schools into our family.  An important aspect of this agenda is to further develop the Trust’s inclusive practice and to explore ways to implement the recent Green Paper: ‘ SEND Review: Right support, Right place, Right time.’ This represents an excellent leadership opportunity for the right applicant.

There has never been a better time to join us. The Trust, working closely with our sponsor, Dudley College of Technology, is now poised to flourish and to develop an exciting transformational model of education for this area. You will have significant experience of education and be able to demonstrate a clear knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of effective teaching and learning and inclusive practice. Most importantly, you will share our vision and commitment to creating inspirational schools and equipping all of our learners with the knowledge, skills and attributes to succeed in life.

Closing date Tuesday 24th  May 2022 at 9am –- we reserve the right to close this vacancy earlier than the date advertised.

Interviews to be held on Thursday 26th May 2022.

All successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced disclosure and barring service check and children and adults barred list checks, where the applicant will be employed in a regulated activity.

Dudley Academies Trust is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including disabled, and black and ethnic minority applicants.
