Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Vice Principal to take responsibility for a cluster of academies, as well as leading on whole Post-16 Federation responsibilities.

You will have specific responsibilities for data across the Federation, including assessment recording and reporting, data management and new technologies, as well as overseeing several Post-16 sites, supporting Principals with behaviour issues and attendance data, recruitment and curriculum development.

The Harris Federation is a successful, highly collaborative and enterprising group of academies in and around London. Our network of academies is setting standards of excellence through an experienced and supportive approach with the aim that every child in London can have the best possible education, enabling them to fulfil their potential and decide their own future. The focus of the Harris Federation is on transforming some of the most challenging schools in London into exceptional places of learning. That means that when you work at a Harris academy, you are playing a part in something very important – giving children the freedom and the opportunities to choose their own futures.

About Harris Sixth Form

The Harris Sixth Form is one of the largest in London, with 11 campuses and almost 2,000 Sixth Formers. It has two very different, but equally ambitious, routes that sixth formers can choose between: Sixth Form Academia, for students looking for a Russell Group university place or to study at other top universities worldwide; and Sixth Form Professional for those of our students wanting to study for credible qualifications that universities recognise and respect, or which lead directly to their careers of choice.

Why work for the Harris Federation?

Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each Harris Academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. Our central office is based next to East Croydon station which gives easy access to London Bridge and Victoria as well as fast access to the M25.

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and who can help create exceptional places of learning.

If you would like a discussion in confidence about the role, please call the careers team on 020 8253 7777.

Harris academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants. In line with our commitments to safeguarding, the Harris Federation uses preferred agencies and is unable to work with any agencies where Terms of Business have not been agreed by both parties prior to an engagement.

The Harris Federation is a not-for-profit educational charity with almost 25 years of education experience in and around London. Our primary, secondary, all-through and sixth form academies have an international reputation for delivering a step change in education standards.

In joining a Harris Academy, you will be working with some of the country’s most exceptional teachers, support staff and leaders. There are frequent opportunities for internal exchange and promotion; our CPD is regularly described as Outstanding; and we have a package of staff benefits that rivals the most competitive of other professions.

Each Harris Academy is led and run by its senior leaders and has its own curriculum and way of doing things. What our Academies share, however, is a commitment to giving their children and teenagers an excellent education within a happy, caring and supportive environment.

There are Harris Academies in many different settings – inner city and suburban – but they are all within a maximum ninety minute commute from each other. This enables a highly collaborative structure, with on-call support from the Harris Federation.

You can find out more on our website (www.harrisfederation.org.uk) or by following us on Twitter (@HarrisFed).
