Currently our Ekeby site caters for Year 5 to Year 11 students, but our aim is to expand to Year 13 over the coming two years. Our Altorp Site provides for Nursery to Year 4. The appointed candidate will contribute to the overall direction of the school as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible for the overall learning andday to day running of the Ekeby Site.

Situated on two sites in Djursholm, a beautiful suburb of Stockholm, and enjoying an excellent reputation, the British International School of Stockholm (BISS) is a vibrant and highly successful school of approximately 500 children from 40 different countries. Meeting internationally recognised standards of excellence, the school is an accredited member of COBIS (the Council of British International Schools) and received an excellent recent BSO inspection report.

BISS has designed a bespoke EYFS curriculum which leads into the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for Years 1 to 6, together with a combination of the UK strategies and Cambridge International Curriculum. These provide high quality learning opportunities for all pupils. In Years 7 to 11, we additionally use the International Middle Years Curriculum and Cambridge IGCSEs. Once BISS is an IB accredited school, it will be offering the IB Diploma in Years 12 and 13.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding, fully-qualified teacher and leader, who is learning focused, internationally-minded, and has the desire to help shape the exciting future of our school. The post will appeal to experienced senior leaders and to applicants aspiring to the next stage of their career development. Whilst experience at Assistant Head level is an advantage, enthusiastic and ambitious teachers who have proven their potential as effective middle leaders will also be considered.

About British International School of Stockholm

British International School of Stockholm is a co-educational all-through independent school based in Danderyd in Sweden.

The school was founded in 1980 and was initially run from a historic house in Danderyd called Borgen. It moved to its present location in Östra Valhallavägen in 1985. Originally called the British Primary School, the school chose to update its name to British International Primary School of Stockholm in 2000 before removing the word “primary” when the school expanded to include secondary children in 2014. The name is intended to reflect the fact that it is a truly international school with over 45 nationalities represented among pupils.
