Vice Principal/Head of Primary

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and driven candidate who is able to meet the challenges of this new exciting and demanding role. This is a key appointment to work alongside the Principal to set up and establish The Aquila School as the school of choice for families living in Dubailand. 

Person Specification

  • Bachelor’s degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Master’s degree in Education (desirable but not essential)
  • Evidence of further professional study and commitment to CPD (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of accreditation and school inspections (desirable but not essential)
  • Expertise in the EYFS curriculum
  • A wide range of teaching experience with primary aged children
  • Experience of working in a high achieving school (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of working in the UAE (desirable but not essential)
  • Evidence of successful implementation of a range of whole school initiatives, focusing on positive outcomes for pupils
  • Experience of using data to secure positive outcomes for all learners
  • Experience of delivering CPD to staff at all levels
  • Experience of developing a range of systems with close attention to detail
  • Experience of leading community events (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of managing budgets (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of working with community groups, such as governors, PTA (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of delivering training to families to support their child’s learning (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of leading aspects of school self-evaluation (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of managing an MIS (desirable but not essential)
  •  A proven ability to make school relevant, enjoyable, challenging and exciting for all pupils
  •  The ability to make difficult decisions, have difficult conversations and challenge underperformance
  •  Driven, perceptive, committed, flexible and focused
