Job overview

Shape the future of a school that shapes children for success.

At The Dukeries Academy, we believe that every student should Aspire, Achieve and Contribute. At the heart of Academy Transformation Trust, we place strong emphasis on academic attainment and strive to ensure that every child leaves with the kind of qualifications that guarantee a great future. But it isn’t just about results: we aim to create well-rounded, responsible individuals who seize opportunities, discover their passions and love to learn throughout life.

Rated Good by Ofsted in October 2016, we are keen to become Outstanding – and you will accelerate our journey. Overseeing the organisation, management and control of the Academy, you will closely partner the Local Governing Body to shape strategy, foster innovation and maximise the performance of every member of your team. Forging close links with families, local residents and businesses, you will position us as a school for the 21st century, with the resources and talent to equip young people for whatever life may bring.

In particular, you will drive self-evaluation, refine policies and practices, promote high expectations and partner the Principal to identify opportunities for improvement. A visionary, self-starter and exceptional classroom practitioner, you will be a qualified teacher and experienced leader, and will probably join us from another deputy headship. You will certainly be capable of engaging children with varying needs, overseeing recruitment and succession planning, and solving problems with imagination and insight. Above all, you will be passionate about transforming outcomes and keen to make your mark on everything we do, every day.
