The School

Day Waterman College (DWC) is Nigeria’s leading independent full boarding school, founded in 2008 and located approximately one hour’s drive from the city of Lagos. The school occupies a large and pleasant purpose-built campus with excellent facilities for all academic subjects as well as sport, drama and music.

The school is fully co-educational and caters for boys and girls between the ages of eleven and sixteen. The curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales and the school is a registered examination centre for both Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and Edexcel. Since the school’s inception, results in public examinations have been impressive and DWC students move on to leading institutions worldwide, not least in the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

The Role and the Candidate

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Principal and the Board for the pastoral support and welfare of all students at the college and will ensure that all aspects of the boarding life of the school are fully compliant with international safeguarding standards. He/she will be responsible for coordinating the work of the boarding staff in making the boarding environment that of a ‘home away from home’. DWC is a full boarding school and the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that co-curricular provision provides a purposeful and enriching experience for all.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in a boarding environment as both a teacher and house parent. He/she will have managerial experience and be a strong leader of both staff and students. He/she will be adaptable and sensitive to people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.

The post carries with it an attractive salary paid in Sterling, high quality accommodation on campus, health care and return annual flights.
