Job overview

North Liverpool Academy is an ambitious and dynamic inner-city, 11-19 comprehensive Academy with over 1200 on roll. The Academy has made good progress in recent years and was the most improved school in the city in 2015-2016. This was further reflected in the recent Ofsted inspection which graded it as ‘Good’ (May’17). Everyone associated with NLA is proud of this success but at the same time are looking forwards and not backwards to becoming ‘Outstanding and World Class’. The Academy is now recruiting a Vice Principal to lead on Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare and who will play a fundamental role in driving this ambition.

NLA is situated in state of the art new buildings which provide a bright and motivational learning environment but it is the staff that make the greatest difference through their commitment to the needs of the young people who feel ‘safe and well supported’ (Ofsted May ’17).

NLA is always looking at new creative and innovate ways of improving behaviour for learning and discipline so that it is exemplary at all times and has a strong belief that strong and clear boundaries are set and communicated. Zero tolerance to anti-social behaviour and bullying of any kind is integral to the ethos of the academy and is fundamental to its high expectations. The Academy will open its own Alternative Provision Facility in September and so the successful candidate will be instrumental in leading the different strands of behaviour for learning across a whole raft of different learning experiences. You will also lead on attendance and play a vital role in realising the vision of ‘high aspirations’ and ‘expectations’ across the academy to ensure that students have the very best opportunities afforded to them.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an experienced, forward thinking leadership team who have been recognised nationally as ‘effective and ambitious’. The Academy is one of 5 schools within the Northern Schools Trust, a growing and successful Multi Academy Trust within the North West held in high regard by the DFE. You will also work closely with other schools in the Trust and receive excellent support for your personal career development.

The successful candidate must have already demonstrated excellent leadership at a Senior Leader level and be a highly successful teacher who is able to enthuse, motivate and inspire children and young people, generating a love for learning. They must be a highly driven, strongly resilient leader who believes in high standards from all stakeholders and who has the confidence and vision to inspire and lead change along with the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached. They will have the skills to build, lead and inspire teams and to be an effective team member who will lead by example. Above all you will share the Academy’s passion and belief that students, their learning and developing their potential is at the heart of all decisions.
