The core purpose of the Vice Principal is to provide support and guidance for the Principal and Head of Schools with the professional leadership and management for all schools under the Doha Academy umbrella. The Principal is responsible for establishing high quality education by effectively managing teaching and learning to maximize and realize the potential of all students and will establish a culture that promotes excellence, equality and high expectations of all staff and students. The Vice Principal will share this vision and bring their professional expertise to all Doha Academy Schools to ensure the Vision and Mission is met.
Doha Academy’s vision and mission is to provide an outstanding, accessible and all-inclusive education. The majority of our students have English as a second language, and the ability to support students with language acquisition would be an advantage.
Key responsibilities for the successful candidate include:
Duties and responsibilities of the Doha Academy Schools’ Vice Principal include, but are not limited to, the following:
Organizational Leadership
§ Develop organizational goals and objectives consistent with the vision, mission and values of Al Faleh Educational Holding.
§ Assist with the recruitment and hiring of diverse, highly-qualified staff.
§ Assist with the management of all serious staff and student discipline matters.
§ Work closely with the Principal to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the school.
§ Lead teachers and staff in developing a healthy school culture aligned with the vision, mission and values of the Doha Academy Schools and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
§ Create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their own skills and subject knowledge, and to support each other.
§ Manage and control the use of professional time to fulfil the role of Vice Principal appropriately according to the needs of the Organization.
§ Foster a school climate that supports both student and staff success and promotes respect and appreciation for all students, staff and parents.
§ Assist to ensure compliance with all requirements as set by the Ministry of Education in Qatar.
§ Assist with managing student enrolment process to ensure that Doha Academy achieves its targeted enrolment projections.
§ Ensure appropriate standards of student behaviour, performance, and attendance.
§ Line manage, directly, the Head of Primary (Al Waab), Head of School (Al Salwa) and the DIKG Head.
Instructional Leadership
Play a leading role in the school’s vision, mission, and strategic goals to support Academy readiness and socio-emotional success for all students.
Strengthen teacher and staff capacity to cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships with families of diverse backgrounds and with community members that support student achievement and student well-being.
Analyse student achievement results to identify areas of need and implement improvement efforts.
Apply and develop teacher and staff performance management systems in a way that ensures a culture of continuous improvement, support, and accountability.
§ Forge teams of colleagues who have distinct roles and responsibilities and hold each other to account for their decision making and educational impact with the distribute leadership throughout the all Doha Academy Schools.
Operational Leadership
Ensure that the schools’ systems and processes are efficient and fit for purpose, upholding the principles of transparency and integrity.
§ Oversee and develop the establishment of rigorous, fair and transparent systems and measures for managing the performance of all staff, addressing any under-performance.
§ Work closely with the designated Operations Director.
Perform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as necessary.
Request a professional or personal meeting with the CEO.
Community Relations
§ Be integral to creating an outward-facing school which works with other schools and organizations - in a climate of mutual challenge - to champion best practice and secure improved academic & social achievements for all students.
§ Communicate regularly with parents, seeking their support and advice, so as to create a cooperative relationship to support students & staff.
§ Attend Board meetings, as required.
Attend, and oversee where necessary, additional school functions such as Graduation, promotional events & parent-teacher conferences.
