Job overview

Newlands Academy is a new purpose-built special academy for students who have social, emotional and mental health needs and is part of Academies Enterprise Trust network of 66 primary, special and secondary academies.

We have 5 special academies based in Essex, London, Gloucestershire and Surrey and thirteen specialist provisions attached to our mainstream academies. All of our special academies are rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.

We are seeking to appoint a forward thinking Vice Principal who will embrace this exciting opportunity to support the Principal in teaching and learning, management and leadership, raising attainment, improving standards and be an integral part of the academy’s future success.

You must be an outstanding practitioner and be able to demonstrate innovative methods of teaching whilst inspiring staff and students alike. You should have a genuine focus on student attainment and progress as well as a proven track record in school improvement and an appreciation of what is required to evolve and develop an outstanding academy.

In return, we offer an exciting opportunity to lead our academy, where you will be able to shape and influence the outcomes for a group of exceptional young people.

As the sponsor, AET believes that all young people deserve to become world-class learners – to learn, enjoy, succeed and thrive in a first rate educational environment with the best facilities, the best teaching and the most up-to-date resources available to them. In each of our academies, you will benefit from visionary, inspirational and dynamic leadership and be empowered to develop your own skills with access to world-class CPD and Talent Management programmes. You will also be entitled to the following benefits: a health cash plan, vehicle affinity scheme, Cycle2work, childcare vouchers and Westfield rewards.

Visits to the academy are warmly encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Marilyn Tweedie on 020 7639 2541 or mtweedie@newlandsacademy.org
