Job overview

Sir Thomas Boughey Academy is proud to be part of United Endeavour Trust (UET). We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and creative educator who can demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills and expertise, to join us on our journey of continuous improvement. Having been judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in February 2022, we are eager to continue on our school improvement journey – and we look forward to having you on this journey.

This post provides an exceptional opportunity for a motivated, inspirational educator and creative leader who is passionate about education. You will have a proven track record of raising standards in education and inspirational leadership.

The successful candidate will:

• think and act strategically

• be passionate about educating young people

• be a teacher of high calibre

• inspire and motivate students and staff to give and achieve their best

• be a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• have high levels of motivation and commitment and be prepared to go the extra mile

• be able to apply their dynamic leadership skills to further develop the reputation of the school with students, parents and the wider community

• have high expectations of student achievement, behaviour and wider participation in the life of the school.

Sir Thomas Boughey is an academy where we all strive for excellence. We have a real sense of community, and being part of the community is incredibly important to us. Ofsted 2022 concluded that, ‘Pupils are happy to come to this welcoming, inclusive school’ and it is a school where, ‘Differences are celebrated, and pupils feel valued. One pupil said that it ‘is fine to be different here’ ‘(Ofsted 2022).

As part of our school improvement journey, we have clear plans to ensure that outcomes continue to improve, and we are pleased that GCSE outcomes in Summer 2022 far exceeded outcomes in Summer 2019 (pre-Covid). Our team approach is evident in everything that we do, and this has been a key factor in securing school improvement in recent years.

As part of UET, you will be open to opportunities to develop as an individual within the school but also across the Trust itself, through our Trust Training Academy. The value of being part of our team should not be underestimated: joining Sir Thomas Boughey Academy will mean that you will be part of a supportive and dedicated group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your abilities and knowledge whilst working in a supportive environment in conjunction with other very dedicated and professional staff.

If you wish to visit the Academy or speak to the Principal, please make contact via HRteam@uetrust.org

Closing date: 9.00am Thursday 2nd February 2023

Interviews will take place on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th February 2023

Welcome to Sir Thomas Boughey Academy; a safe, happy school where students genuinely want to learn and reach their potential, a school where committed and highly motivated staff inspire students to achieve anything they set their mind to.

Our overarching belief as a school is that every child has the right to an exceptional education, and the opportunity to flourish under the guidance of our devoted staff. We build confidence and character, qualities all children need just as much as they do their grades. Our number one goal is that every student leaves us having gone beyond their potential, armed with the resilience, ambition and integrity that will allow them to create whatever future they want, and deserve.

Having been judged as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in February 2022, we are eager to continue on our school improvement journey – and we look forward to having you on this journey.

Sir Thomas Boughey is a true community school: we have close links with members of the community, community events and we are always looking to further develop community links.

Staff turnover at Sir Thomas Boughey is incredibly low, which is largely due to the supportive, caring environment. We have a number of staff who were once students at the school and they were eager to return as teachers in order to continue to offer the support, care and guidance that they experienced as students. Staff development is also a key priority and we offer a comprehensive and bespoke CPL package. Being part of United Endeavour Trust also provides additional opportunities for collaboration and Continued Professional Development. Many staff have experienced internal promotion, including a number of staff who started as a Newly Qualified Teacher and progressed to the Senior Leadership Team, thus demonstrating the range of career opportunities that are available at Sir Thomas Boughey Academy.
